Table Tennis Future In The US

Championing Table Tennis: NYC TV LIVE Journey

April 18, 2025 | 7:45 PM | Jules, Apatini of NYC TV LIVE and creator of SIR and Angel Investor in PingPod

A Moment at PingPod

Today April 18, 2025 at PingPod on East 95th Street, I walked in for my usual table tennis routine—something that’s become a powerful part of my life and health at age 77. While there, I saw Sharon and Adar Alguetti  conduct a superb training a session. Afterward, I asked Sharon if they’re getting involved with Major League Table Tennis (MLTT), and he confirmed they are.

I smiled and told him I was thrilled. MLTT is exactly what table tennis in the U.S. needs: a bigger stage, more performance, and personality-driven appeal. I told Sharon, “You could become a Table Tennis Performing Artist in MLTT. In the U.S., the stars of table tennis won’t just be the most technically sound—they’ll be the ones who can entertain. Watching you play reminds me of my daughter on stage—her presence, her energy. You have that. Bring that to MLTT, and the fans will love you.”

Later, I texted him the same thoughts, and he replied: “Hi Jules, means a lot! I will try my best to come back as soon as possible and hopefully the MLTT will provide this platform to allow things like what you’re saying!”

Why I Created SIR

SIR—Smart Innovative Exercises and Filming Racquet—combines table tennis strokes with music, aerobic movement, and smart motion-tracking technology to help users—young and old—learn proper technique, stay active, and have fun.

At 77, SIR keeps me in top physical and mental shape. And it gives players a reason to come back every day—not just for skill development, but because it feels good. It’s immersive, rhythmic, and built for performance.

I wanted to make table tennis more than a sport. I wanted to make it a movement. Something people would do for fitness, for fun, and for expression.

Connecting the Dots: MLTT, PingPod, SIR

  • MLTT brings visibility and the entertainment platform.
  • PingPod makes table tennis accessible, 24/7, across the country.
  • SIR makes it a lifestyle and health journey.

Text Exchange with Sharon

During our conversation, I reminded Sharon about the importance of performance. I told him that the U.S. is looking for table tennis stars who can not only play but entertain. I believe Sharon has the potential to become a true “Table Tennis Performing Artist.”

Sharon’s response made me optimistic for the future of table tennis in the U.S., as he shares the same dream of helping make table tennis a more mainstream sport.
